McHenry Sportsman’s Club Newsletter (November 2006)
REMINDER - Shooting stops at 4PM until March 1 due to sunset at 4:30PM.
CLUB LEASE STATUS - as you are probably aware by now the Club property changed hands in June 2006.
The Club leased the property from Mrs. Pitzin, wife of the Club founder, for over 20 years at a very low rent.
The new owners have set a rental rate for 2007 that is more reflective of the value of the property and their investment,
but is significantly higher than the Club has paid in the past.
Several changes have all ready been implemented to meet the 2007 lease rate,
including: raising line fees by $.50 in September;
eliminating the paid counter help in July;
reducing trap labor costs in recent months;
and looking for members to participate more in day to day operations.
The Board of Directors is confident that the new lease cost can be met without additional increases in either line fees or membership rates.
However, in 2007, member participation will be even more important since it provides a key means of controlling labor costs.
ELECTIONS - Elections for officers for 2007 will be held on January 4, 2007 at the monthly meeting starting at 7:30 PM at the Club house.
The officers and directors that make up the board are responsible for the overall management of the Club,
and are a critical component to the success of the Club.
There are several openings for officers and board positions that will need to be filled.
(A list of open positions is available at the Club.)
Board members are expected to attend the monthly Club meeting and be available for other assignments that may be needed to manage the Club.
As an incentive, board members are exempt from membership dues and the Special Assessment.
HANGOVER SHOOT - Monday, January 1 starting at 10 AM.
A 50 target Jack Rabbit event is planned.
Practice traps will be open all day.
Bring a dish to pass - anything from a bag of chips to your own special concoction.
If you've never attended the HangOver Shoot you've missed a great day of shooting and, more importantly, eating.
The food is really amazing at the Hang Over Shoot!!!
